If someone ever asked why I like Voyager, I think I might say something like this:

I watch for a relationship that’s so real, so deep it goes beyond a kiss or straight forward confession, wrapped in an allegory about a wise and angry warrior, in which the latter learns what true peace is by her side, he learns to anticipate her needs before his and lightens her burdens. I watch for two groups of strangers that become a family trying to find home in the middle of being lost. I watch to see characters face things they didn’t think they were brave enough or strong enough to face. I watch for the psychological allegorical episodes that may me change my perspective on the world around me. And of course I watch for the lighthearted silly and episodes in all their goofiness make me feel better, yes there are some episodes that make my eyes roll but this show is more than that. This show is my comfort show.

I love Julian Bashir so so much. He's a lieutenant fresh from the academy on his first posting on the edges of Federation space, a posting that he wanted so that he could practice frontier medicine because he wanted to help people and he ends up in the middle of a war. He came out there to help people and advance medicine and ends up trying to save people in a war and being put in horrible nearly impossible situations and he's just a kid. Almost all the other doctors we see have had more experience than Julian before they get shoved into situations to test all of their convictions. I think he and the EMH provide such interesting looks into humanity and how we exist

Kes was so real for this. She’s been on board for like 5 episodes and she is taking the captain aside to question her beliefs and morals. Kes doesn’t get a lot of credit or attention in the fandom but she is an ally and a friend to someone who doesn’t even believe in his own right to be treated kindly and it’s so important to me actually.

Who would call Captain Janeway “mom”

Harry Kim: completely on accident and apologizes like 97 times.

Tom Paris: definitely of purpose and plays it off like a joke.

B’Elanna Torres: would sarcastically say “Okay mom…” under her breath when leaving the conference room.

Seven of Nine: Does not understand why someone would call her “mom”. -has mommy issues from the Borg Queen-

Tuvok: Would never call her “mom”, thinks of her like a reckless little sister, but probably never admit it.

The Doctor (EMH): She is not his mother, he doesn’t have one, and he’d never mis-speak, he is a top of the line Emergency Medical Hologram after all.

Neeilx: Wouldn’t call her mom per say but does think of her like the mom of Voyager.

Kes: Does think of her like a mom and thinks she’d make a great one someday, Kes has told Janeway this and she teared up.

Naomi: Thinks of her as one of her Aunts (the coolest one) and has accidentally called her mom more than once.

Chakotay: Hasn’t called her mom but would like to be the father of her children…. Wait did he say that out loud??!

Q: Calls her Mommy (yes in that way).
